Make this custom faux sofa table for around $50.00. These are all the materials you need. I measured my sofa length to figure out how long I wanted the table. I used a 6' x 10" for the top and cut a 10' x 10" into 4 - 30" tall for the legs. I went to Home Depot...they will cut the wood for you for free!
L brackets with screws, wood stain and a sponge brush.
Start by marking where you want to put the L brackets and screw them in the top and legs. I used a drill with a phillips attachment to make it easier.
Stand your table on plastic to protect your floors.
Stir your wood stain, do not shake...it creates bubbles.
Apply in long, even strokes along the grain of the wood. Be sure to blend each stroke together for even coverage. Do not apply in thick layers or you will get drips and bubbles.
There is no need to apply wood stain (or paint) to the legs on the inside because the couch will hide that.
Let the first coat dry for at least a couple of hours or until dry (not sticky). Then apply another coat. I did two coats, but you can do as many as you like to get the result you want. Just let each coat dry before applying the next.
This beautiful look for around $50.00!
